“Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their
own needs” (WCED, 1987).
Energy has a very close relationship with each of the
three dimensions of sustainable development:
- The
Environment
- The Economy
- Social Welfare
Renewable energy, such as Solar Energy,
is an especially important in that it positively affects
each of these dimensions
of sustainability.
Solar Energy offers unique and valuable benefits for
a sustainable future in energy:
- 1) Clean energy
- 2) No unwanted emissions or noise at point of use
- 3) Very little environmental impact
- 4) Modular and scaleable, can upgrade or move at any time
- 5) Available in virtually any size
Solar is the only renewable energy with a logical chance
of replacing fossil fuels and other non-renewable's:
This
is due to the fact that it is the only renewable energy
source capable of being integrated
on a wide scale. The fuel source for Solar (the Sun)
is virtually limitless and is available everywhere:
Since Solar energy comes directly from the source
(the panels themselves), there is no need for a large, complicated
distribution
infrastructure.
Other renewable sources (Wind, Hydro, etc.) while being
fantastic technologies, simply don’t have the same capabilities
as solar to make a large impact on how we get our energy.
A Solar Energy system requires no fueling infrastructure
and very little maintenance:
It can be made to be portable
or into a large power output station, supplying enough
electricity to run your entire household.
Sustainable Solar:
With these factors, solar
energy is more stable, more secure, and more beneficial to
both the consumer and the environment than it's "dirty" alternative
of fossil fuels. At Astralux, it's not only our company motto, but
a core value of each
and every one of our people to create dependable solutions for
a sustainable future.
